QA QC / Peer Review
Quality Assurance & Quality Control (QA QC)
QA QC focuses on solid engineering choices, compliance with local jurisdiction requirements, and company standards of design and drafting. QA QC can be used by design engineers and project managers to review plans before submittals for suggestions on draftsmanship and design.
Peer Review / Planchecking
Peer Review is an intense, in-depth review of plans critiquing the design decisions made by the engineer and/or team. This can be used as a performance evaluation but can also be used as a plancheck before submittal or a proof of design concept early in the design cycle. The suggestions in a Peer Review will include changes to the design to make the project work better, cost less, or eliminate complications during construction but may not be practical to implement given the timeline to make the changes and the number of plans that may be affected by the changes.
